Fresh new school beats from 19 year old LA beatsmith Henry Laufer aka Shlomo. As his alias implies, Shlomo rides slow BPMs and laces them with plenty of abstract synths, psychedelic blips and sweet crunchy beats. The album opens with the hazy atmospherics of "Tomato Squeeze" that shifts to a slumped out funk Dam-Funk would be proud of (fat fart bass and all). "7am" introduces some lo-fi video game synth backed by more fat bass action, while "Spoons" gets a deeper with wide bass wobbles offset by smooth chords. These vibes continue on and get more lush on "Post Atmosphere" and more harsh on "Dead Pixel," but when you reach the smoked-out "Antigravity" its as if you went full circle and back. Definitely a talented producer to be on the lookout for and a welcome addition to the new beats scene. Don't forget to check the remixes included, especially the 4x4 Detroit style rework of "Antigravity" by Low Limit. Fans of Flying Lotus, Samiyam, Ras G, and the new LA sound should def check. Recommended.
