This is a pretty cool concept, a "cover exchange" in which UK dance group Friendly Fires and Brooklyn nu-disco duo Holy Ghost! cover each other's tracks. Friendly Fires go first, putting their spin on Holy Ghost's hipster dance anthem "Hold On." It's kind of weird at first, but then when those big chords come in during the chorus, and I'm definitely on board after that. Allow me to use that last phrase, "on board," as a super corny segue to Holy Ghost's contribution, a cover of the Friendly Fires single "On Board." This is really excellent disco featuring something called the DFA Celestial Choir, presumably made up of other arists associated with the label. I'm really into this concept, hopefully XL bridges more gaps like this in the future. Includes instrumentals for both and a dub verson for "On Board." Recommended.
